On the State of Website Security in 2016, there was a significant increase in the amount of compromised websites.

However regrettable, the Internet did not become a safer place in the past year, compared to 2015. In 2016 the amount of hacked websites increased by 32% .

“We don’t expect this trend to slow down. As hackers get more aggressive and more sites become outdated, hackers will continue to capitalize by infecting more sites” – Google’s report states.

However,  it should be noted that 84% of the websites were successfully cleaned from malware.

Google specialists recommend to register your website in the Search Console, as it is the main channel they use to communicate website health alerts . Because, that according to the report 61% of administrators didn’t receive any warnings from Google and had no idea that their website was hacked.

The report recommends using a preventing approach with your website security because it is much easier than dealing with the aftermath.
